Salone del Mobile 2012: The collaboration between Bruno Fattorini and Extremis resulted in the Marina-range which may seem somewhat atypical for Extremis: Bruno Fattorini & Partners put the emphasis on material innovation, whereas Extremis usually puts the togetherness-aspect first. Extremis wants to remain innovative and this collaboration fits that train of thought perfectly.
Inspired by hops
Interieur 2010: Dirk Wynants presents the Hopper collection, inspired by hops & hop pickers. With the first harvest of his hop garden he brewed his very own beer and called it Tremist. There is nothing better than a local beer full of character to symbolize the link between authenticity and innovation. Or to drink a toast to yet another great tool for togetherness…
Inspired by yachts
Interieur 2008: The intimacy and the versatility of yacht furniture inspired Dirk Wynants in his search for a way to meet the expectations people in more Mediterranean climates have of outdoor furniture. Their milder climate allows for less robust, more refined outdoor furniture. The Kosmos table and seat combination is the perfect answer to these expectations. Its light-weight aluminium frame and synthetic leather cushions are a clear reference to the world of sailing ships and yachts.
Inspired by other cultures
Interieur 2006: As Extremis’ international success grew, Dirk Wynants increasingly got inspiration from abroad. His trips to the Middle East with its tea houses where people settle down on carpets and cushions to talk and enjoy a glass of tea, prompted him to create Behive: unique lounge furniture accommodating twelve to twenty people.
More tools for togetherness
Interieur 2004: Arthur, Donuts and Qrater are presented in a complete white environment.
Expanding range
Interieur 2002: Dirk Wynants & Xavier Lust present Picnik. After having won seven design awards, it is clear that Picnik will go down in design history as a true style icon.
Other new arrivals in 2002: Inumbra, Icecube, Sticks
Interieur Biennale Kortrijk
Interieur 2000: Extremis is presented at the famous Interior Biennale with Gargantua and the Extempore range.
The first born
Extremis was founded in 1994. Dirk Wynants’ first brainchild was the multifunctional garden table Gargantua, which has in the meantime become a true design classic.
1994
Dirk starts making Gargantua tables in his garage.
