|Extremis, the Belgium design studio from Poperinge, is famous for its interactive and fun outdoor furniture, designed to bring people together. This year at Milan Design Week the studio launches new products, including 'Walrus' and 'Bundle', that both pay homage to the company philosophy.
Greeting us in hawaii shirts and serving us chilled coconut water, chief designer Dirk Wynants and his friendly team welcome us to the Extremis stand that truly brings beachy vibes and echoes the Aussie Summer and sun.
Wynants latest design, the 'Walrus' is an outdoor sofa range with accompanying coffee tables and side tables. The 'Walrus' sofa has a robust cover, providing a sleek, weatherproof and elegant sofa unit. Moreover, the storage pouch in the back contains foldout blankets and cushions, offering a clever solution to save storage.
|Also new to the Extremis range, 'Bundle', designed by French artist, Lionel Doyen, brings a unique seating design to the garden furniture scene; an original hybrid between a bench, sofa and porch swing. Inspired by the nature from Doyen's native Var region of France, the main structural base consists of aluminium tubes, bundled like wooden branches collected from the forest bed. The two-seater base is firmly tied by Sunbrella straps that not only provide seating comfort but also suspend the swing and serve as backrests. In combination these two simple materials result in a sculptural design that provides a unique centerpiece in any contemporary patio area.
'Walrus' is made of galvanized steel frame and legs with tarpualin cushions and is available in dark grey, light grey and white.
'Bundle' is available with or without cushions - as a suspended swing or a bench - with an aluminium frane in a range of colours from the Extremis colour palette.
